Who operates Fieldwork
Fieldwork is operated by Frank Kurka. For privacy questions or requests, email hello@fieldwork.chat.
Services involved
Fieldwork uses Cloudflare for website hosting, application storage in D1, and current free-answer AI inference. Resend supports email verification, service email, and the optional Fieldwork Notes mailing list. The public Fieldwork Guide is hosted by GitBook; following that link takes you to an external service with its own data practices.
Free AI questions and feedback
Successful free questions, AI answers, provider and model details, response timing, and optional feedback are stored in the active Fieldwork database for 90 days. Feedback may include a rating from 1 to 10 and an optional comment. These records use random exchange IDs and are not linked to a Fieldwork account or raw IP address.
Anonymous content can still identify you or another person. Avoid personal, confidential, regulated, or secret information in a free question or feedback comment.
Fieldwork uses IP-derived daily quota records to limit use. Session cookies support signed-in activity, and browser storage may hold unfinished drafts or a handoff you explicitly prepare. Provider operational logs and Cloudflare recovery copies follow separate operational retention rather than the active database’s 90-day schedule. Fieldwork does not claim that no logging occurs.
Sharing, inquiries, Fieldwork Notes, and the launch waitlist
A free AI exchange is not automatically published or added to a consulting inquiry. The share feature creates an editable plain-text preview and copies it only when you choose. Continuing with a human places a clearly labeled AI transcript into the inquiry flow in your browser so you can review it before submission.
Fieldwork Notes is an optional mailing list, separate from inquiries and accounts. We add an address only after its owner confirms the emailed link. Unconfirmed signup records expire with the confirmation link. Resend stores the confirmed contact and subscription choices and provides the unsubscribe process. Submitting an inquiry does not subscribe you.
The Fieldwork launch waitlist is also separate. After its owner confirms the emailed link, the address is retained only to send one notification when that specific launch is ready. It is not added to Fieldwork Notes or ongoing marketing email. Unconfirmed waitlist records expire with the confirmation link; confirmed addresses are removed after the launch notification or earlier on request.
Email-verified accounts, human inquiry conversations, project records, private consultant work, and reviewed deliverables follow the retention agreed or required for that engagement. They are not automatically deleted after 90 days.
Why information is used
Fieldwork uses visitor exchanges and feedback to understand visitor needs, operate and protect the service, identify weak answers and service opportunities, compare providers and models, and improve prompts, evaluations, interfaces, and AI assistance. Submitting content does not grant consent to train model weights. Any model-training use requires a separate decision and appropriate permission.
Access, correction, and deletion requests
Email hello@fieldwork.chat with the minimum information needed to explain your request. Do not send passwords, sign-in links, continuation tokens, API keys, or other secrets. Include enough non-sensitive detail to help locate the relevant account, project, or exchange.
Because free AI records use random exchange IDs and are not tied to an account or raw IP address, Fieldwork may not be able to identify a particular anonymous exchange from a general description. We will explain what can reasonably be located and corrected or deleted.
